PESHAWAR, Feb 1: The University of Peshawar plans to increase the number of existing faculties from five to eight.

The decision was taken at a meeting held here on Friday which was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Dr Zulfiqar Hussain Gilani.

The management set up Open Forum for Education Reforms (OFFER) to re-classify the existing faculties of the university. At present, the university, with more than 30 departments, has five faculties — science, arts, oriental languages, Islamic studies and education. The administration has planned to create three separate faculties for numerical, social and biological sciences.

Addressing the meeting, the VC said that restructuring of academic programme would provide the university with a more appropriate and flexible basis for capitalising on changes in the world of knowledge.
