Remounts Whites rout Mayfair

LAHORE, Jan 21:Remounts Whites beat Mayfair 9-3 1/2 in the inaugural match of the January polo tournament at the Lahore Polo Club Monday, with Captain Haseeb Minhas scoring five goals for the winners.

Mayfair had an advantage of one-and-a-half goals on  handicap and scored only two goals during play.

Araya scored first goal of the match for Mayfair on spot penalty near the goalpost and Kamran Nooruddin scored a field goal during third chukker.

However, Remounts Whites players struck at regular intervals to earn a convincing win. Minhas, Khurshid and Captain Shehryar struck once, each.

At end of first chukker, Remounts White led by three goals to two-and-a-half (3—2 1/2).

Minhas scored two back-to-back goals in second chukker to enhance Remounts White’s lead to five goals to two-and-a-half.

Khurshid scored his second goal on a field effort at start of third chukker.

Kamran Nooruddin combined well with Araya to score Mayfair’s second goal. Minhas scored his fourth to enhance Remounts White’s lead to 7-3 1/2 .

Both goals of fourth chukker were put in by Remounts Whites.

Manzoor Shah combined well with Shehryar to score eighth goal while Minhas scored his fifth and Remounts White’s ninth goal on a field effort.

Remounts White: Manzoor Shah (1), Shehryar (1), Haseeb Minhas (3), Khurshid (4).

Mayfair: Kamran Nooruddin (0), Ahmad Nawaz Tiwana (0), Ivan Jose Araya (6), Sufi Muhammad Haris (1).
