KARACHI: 579 KPP schemes completed in Sindh


KARACHI, Jan 13: About 579 out of the 691 development schemes have been completed in all the sixteen divisions of Sindh, an official spokesman said here on Sunday.

He said Rs1800 million had been released for the schemes in the second phase of the Khushhal Pakistan Programme (KPP).

An expenditure of Rs1342.948 million has been incurred, while work on 112 other projects was going on in full swing.

More than two-and-a-half million people would be benefited from the schemes, the spokesman added.

Work on 151 development projects had commenced by December 31, 2001, for which Rs506.04 million were released and out of them 86 have been completed at a cost of Rs332.64 million. Work on the remaining project was in progress.

Similarly, 78 projects had been undertaken in Hyderabad division at an estimated cost of Rs146 million. Out of these, 76 have been completed at a cost of Rs117.5 million.

In Dadu district, 65 schemes were initiated and all have been completed, incurring an expenditure of Rs112.76 million. 28 projects were initiated in Thatta division out of which 25 have been completed at a cost of Rs86.2 million.

56 development schemes were implemented in Badin district, carrying an estimated cost of Rs99.1 million. Out of these, 28 have been completed at a cost of Rs33 million.

In Mirpurkhas division, eight development schemes were undertaken and all of them have been completed at a cost of Rs80.34 million.

In Shikarpur, 46 such schemes were implemented at a cost of Rs44.73 million.

Larkana got 87 projects and all have been completed at a cost of Rs98.29 million. 38 schemes were completed in Sanghar at a cost of Rs115.20 million, while in Khairpur work on 26 projects has commenced for which Rs78.17 had been released. Out of these, 21 have been completed at an expenditure of Rs55.22 million. 32 scheme had been planned for Nawabshah and all have been completed at an expense of Rs54.02 million. 30 out of 32 scheme were carried out in Jacobabad, incurring an expenditure of Rs82.04 million.

Another 13 scheme were implemented in Sukkur at a cost of Rs45.35 million, while an expenditure of Rs49 million was incurred on completion of 17 development projects in Ghotki. 11 schemes were prepared for Naushehro Feroze and an amount of Rs54.9 was released, while work on five schemes was completed at a cost of Rs28.11 million.

Rs88.8 were released for three projects in Tharparkar out of which two have been completed at a cost of Rs59.6 million.—APP
