FAISALABAD, Jan 10: A dacoit was shot dead while a constable sustained injuries in a shootout with police in Liaquatabad on Thursday.

Reports reaching here revealed four dacoits burst into Muhammad Bashir’s shop and tried to snatch cash from him. In the meantime, a patrolling police squad appeared on the scene. The intruders resorted to firing which was returned.

One of the bandits was shot dead while constable Muhammad Anwar sustained injuries.

He was admitted to the Allied Hospital where his condition was stated to be critical.

SELF-INFLICTED INJURY: An under trial prisoner in the district jail on Wednesday night cut his tongue with a blade.

Jail officials said Muhammad Aslam cut his tongue for no apparent reason and fell unconscious. He was taken to a hospital for medical aid.

The Civil Lines police are investigating.
