Teenager Ajay overpowers Khurram

KARACHI, Jan 8: Ajay Bherwani fought-back from 1-2 down to defeat Khurram Jahangir 3-2 in the first round of Sindh Open Snooker qualifying rounds at Indus Club Bahadurabad Tuesday.

Teenager Ajay, brother of Pakistan’s national ranking cueist, Aneel Bherwani pocketed the opening frame but his opponent took the next two to gain 2-1 advantage.

But Ajay showing fighting qualities took the next two frames after keen contest to record a thrilling victory.

Ghulam Nabi smashed a brilliant break of 84 in his victory over Qasim 3-2.

FRONTIER CUP

PESHAWAR: The 10th edition of the Frontier Cup Snooker Championship got under way Tuesday at the indoor hall of the Green Snooker Club here with almost 100 players participating from around the country.

A total of 19 matches were decided on the opening day with all seeding players through to next round without facing any hardship against their respective rivals.
