Prayer Leader manhandled

SAHIWAL, Jan 6: The prayer leader of Masjid Noor was manhandled by four assailants here on Saturday night.

Qari Ghulam Murtaza was present in his house when assailants stepped in. They unclothed him and started thrashing him with clubs and hockey sticks before his mother and other women inmates.

Later, they dragged him to the mosque’s compound and again subjected him to severe violence.

Police have not so far registered a case.

Ulema have strongly condemned the incident and demanded immediate arrest of the accused.

Meanwhile, the mosque management has sacked two madressa teachers - Qari Bashir Ahmed and Qari Muhammad Idrees for their involvement in this case.
