PESHAWAR, Jan 4: District Nazim Azam Khan Afridi has said that the district government would take all necessary steps to address the problems and grievances being faced by the traders community.

This he said while speaking at a function organized by Anjuman-i-Tajiran, Karkhano Market, the other day. The function was attended among others by Town-III Nazim Yaseen Khalil and councillors of various union councils of Peshawar.

Mr Afridi said that the traders community was playing a vital role in the development of economy and that was why the government held them in high esteem and was taking all possible measures to resolve their problems on priority basis.

He assured the traders of Karkhano Market that all their demands would be fulfilled as soon as possible through mutual understanding.

He urged the traders to constitute a committee in this regard and put their complaints and demands before the district government in black and white so that they could be solved in a systematic manner.

Referring to the new local bodies system, the Nazim said that the district government system was passing through a transitional period and at present we were confronting a number of administrative and financial problems but with the blessings of God and support of masses we would overcome all the hurdles and difficulties and would come up to the expectations of the people.

Criticizing the previous administrative system, Azam Khan Afridi said that it was a burden on the national exchequer as the federal and provincial governments had to spend billions of rupees on that administrative machinery.
