LARKANA, Jan 2: The district government plans to crack down on illegal residential colonies in the district, with the Larkana Development Authority (LDA) having already conducted a primary survey in which it found 17 unauthorized colonies.
S. Tahir Ali Shah, Director General, LDA, in a communication to the Zila Nazim, Khursheed Ahmed Junejo, pointed towards the mushroom growth of unregistered colonies around Larkana city.
A galaxy of private builders and developers had launched a number of housing schemes and colonies in violation of sub-section 1 of section 5 of the Sindh Building Control Ordinance 1979 and 1982, said the LDA sources.
“No developer shall transfer any plot or plots on the basis of ownership or by sale or advertise such transfer without obtaining a No Objection Certificate from the authority in the manner and on payment of such fee as may be prescribed,” a provision of the ordinance reads.
The DG of the LDA, in another letter addressed to the executive district officer (Revenue), Mukhtiarkars, and sub-registrar, Larkana, said the owners of such housing schemes and colonies must obtain prior approval of their layout plans from the LDA before making sub-divisions of their survey numbers and no plot may be registered before the allottee produces the approved layout plan of the housing colony.
Out of the 24 colonies so far identified, only seven are registered while 17 are unregistered, the DG, LDA, said in his letter.
