KARACHI, Dec 31: The Karachi City Council on Monday demanded that the Sindh government should give the same powers and incentives to the Nazims of union councils and Naib Nazims of the town and district councils as have been entrusted to the district and town Nazims.

A resolution moved by Siddiq Rathore, Muslim Parvez and Syed Najmi Alam in this regard was unanimously passed by the council.

In the resolution, the government’s attention was drawn to the plight of the union council Nazims and members stating that they were ignored at all levels in the business rules.

It said the councillors, who were playing an important role in running the system, were disappointed because of lack of facilities.

The resolution said that the facilities of honoraria, vehicle, petrol, accommodation and telephone had been provided in the business rules only for the district and town Nazims.

It demanded that honoraria and other facilities should also be announced for the UC Nazims and Naib Nazims of district, town and union councils.—APP
