KARACHI, Dec 28: A division bench of Sindh High Court on Friday issued notice to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) through its deputy prosecutor general for Dec 31 on a pre-arrest bail application filed by Farida Aziz, wife of labour leader Abdul Aziz Memon.
The applicant moved the SHC through counsel Nooruddin Serki seeking interim bail as an accountability reference No 44 of 2001 is pending trial before the Accountability Court (AC-III) Karachi against her and her spouse regarding “living beyond known sources of income”.
When hearing began on Friday before the bench comprising Justice Shabbir Ahmed and Justice Muhammad Moosa K Leghari, applicant’s counsel submitted that his client is a housewife and did nothing against the law. According to prosecution, the reference is about corruption and corrupt practices committed by accused Abdul Aziz Memon and Farida Aziz as they amassed illegal wealth through illegal means.—PPI
