KARACHI, Dec 26: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Lt Gen Tauqir Zia has discussed issue of rescheduling next year’s Sharjah tri-series with chief of the Cricketers Benefit Fund Series (CBFS) Abdur Rehman Bukhatir.

The PCB has, however, not released details of the meeting.

“It was a courtesy call from Bukhatir and there is no news,” PCB director Brig Munawwar Rana told SADA Wednesday.

Bukhatir and CBFS chief executive Zahid Noorani were in Lahore Tuesday.

The PCB had requested the CBFS to reschedule next year’s tri-series, due to start from April 9, to March, allowing Pakistan a chance to re-host New Zealand in April-May and make up for the loss it had incurred due to cancellation of trip by New Zealand.

Pakistan, Sri Lanka and New Zealand are the competing teams in the tri-series.

Sources said the CBFS chief has offered the PCB his television company’s services once its contract with the Transworld International expires next year.

“Bukhatir has been promoting his TV production company, Taj Group, and has offered the PCB an enhanced sum and a five-year contract for TV rights in Pakistan,” the sources said.
