PESHAWAR, Dec 22: The law enforcement agencies on Friday arrested two more Al Qaeda members who had fled from custody on Wednesday when being taken to Peshawar from Parachinar on a bus.
During the clashes over the past three days between the runaway Al Qaeda activists and Pakistani law enforcement agencies, 17 people from both the sides have died, including 10 Al Qaeda members and seven members of the Pakistani law enforcement agencies.
However, a majority of the 48 Al Qaeda escapees, who had also taken away guns from the escorting guards on Wednesday, has been arrested during the two-day operation launched to nab the missing.
The manhunt, jointly carried out by the Pakistan army jawans, members of the Special Services Group and levies, is still on in the Alizai and adjoining areas in Kurram agency to get hold of the remaining five fugitives.
Meanwhile, security arrangement on main roads connecting Kurram agency, in Fata, and southern parts of the NWFP with Peshawar have been tightened.
Contingents of paramilitary forces are patrolling the highways and law enforcers conducting search of every public and private transport heading towards Peshawar.
