MOSCOW, Dec 22: A Chechen woman and a Russian soldier were badly injured early on Saturday when a bomb ripped through a cafe in the Chechen capital Grozny, TV-6 television reported.

The blast destroyed the cafe, which was not far from the police headquarters set up by Moscow authorities in the breakaway republic.

The TV-6 correspondent said shootouts had been heard all night in Grozny.

More than two years since being sent into the rebel republics, Russian forces are continually under threat from attacks and shooting incidents.—AFP
