PESHAWAR, Dec 19: Like rest of the country, Eidul Fitr was celebrated in Peshawar and other parts of NWFP with religious devotion and customary enthusiasm on Monday.

The acting governor NWFP, Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan, offered Eid prayer on Monday at Eidgah Abbottabad.
The tradition of celebrating Eid on different days was alive even this year.

So people thronged the recreational spots - parks and cinemas - from Sunday onwards.
All the major parks, including Sher Khan Shaheed Stadium, Bagh-i-Naran, Khyber, Tatara and Khalid Bin Waleed Park, were overflowing with people.
A mela had been organized at Hayatabad which drew large crowds, mostly Afghans. Circus, magic shows, swings and rides of various kinds, were the main attraction.
Most of the cinemas were exhibiting latest Urdu, Pashto and English movies, some vulgar ones as well.
As usual, the mithai shops and fast food joints too were doing roaring business.
Despite the terrible situation in Afghanistan, the Afghan refugees in the camps celebrated the festival in a befitting manner.
