PESHAWAR, Dec 19: All religions preach humanity, harmony and peace to the mankind, said Federal Minister for Minorities and Culture, S K Tressler addressing Christians here.

“It is for us that we should follow the teachings of our religion and make the world a citadel of peace,”he added.

The minister said Eid and Christmas celebrations falling in the same month provided the Muslims and Christians an opportunity to work together for the prosperity and integrity of our country.

He said Pakistan joined the international coalition to show its stance against terrorism. “We, the citizens of Pakistan, should get together against the terrorist elements in our society and eliminate them once for all,”said Tressler. He also asked the people to suggest improvement in local government system.

The minister distributed financial aid and scholarships among the widows and deserving students of Christian community.

Earlier, Provincial Minister for Religious Affairs, Qari Roohullah Madani, addressed the gathering.

He said the Holy Quran teaches equality of human beings and condemns terrorism. “We should work together for the development and prosperity of our country”, he said.

Mr Tressler also visited the Mission Hospital and asked about the health facilities being provided to the patients. —APP
