ISLAMABAD, Dec 12: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has been making efforts to familiarize new generation about the teachings and philosophy of Dr Allama Mohammad Iqbal for the past several years.

This was stated by the AIOU vice-chancellor, Prof Dr Syed Altaf Hussain, while presenting a book “Iqbal and Goethe” to the director, Iqbal Academy, Lahore, Mohammad Sohail Umar, at a function here on Wednesday.

Dr Hussain said the AIOU had set up a separate portion “Gosha-i-Iqbal” in its central library where a large number of books and research material on the Poet of the East were available.

The chairman of department of Iqbaliat, Dr Mohammad Siddique Khan Shibli, highlighted the university’s educational services and briefed the audience on the research work on Iqbal being undertaken by the AIOU students.

The 800-page book “Iqbal and Goethe” has been published jointly by the AIOU and the Iqbal Academy, Lahore. The book has been edited by Mohammad Akram Chughtai.

The book can be very useful for the students of Iqbaliat as well as for those doing research on Iqbal. The price of the book is Rs300.
