DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Dec 11: The Anti-Corruption Establishment on Tuesday arrested the assistant district accounts officer, Dera Ismail Khan, red-handedly while taking bribe from a government employee for passing his arrear bills.

According to reports, Rs12,488 had been outstanding against one Abdur Razzaq of Khui Bahara. The official had told him that if he paid Rs1,000 he would get all arrear bills cleared by the district accounts office.

Abdur Razzaq brought the matter to the notice of Anwar Saeed Kundi, Assistant Director, Anti-Corruption Establishment, who gave him signed currency notes for payment to the official.

The ACE staff, headed by Mr Kundi, raided the accounts office while the concerned official, Mohammad Shakoor Khan, was receiving Rs1,000 bribe from Razzaq. Sher Afzal Khan, civil judge-I, recovered the amount from the possession of the accused and sent him to jail.
