KARACHI: MQM-H to contest October elections

KARACHI, Dec 10: Mohajir Qaumi Movement chairman Afaq Ahmed has announced that his party has decided to contest the next general elections in October-2002.

Speaking at an Iftar Party hosted by him for newsmen on Monday, he said they may form an election alliance with the other political parties having same ideology but brushed aside its possibility in the near future.

Referring to previous elections, he said all those parties, which seized power in the past did not have roots in the public, which resulted in the failure of their governments.

He condemned the operation against his party workers. “We are being punished for past many years owing to our pro-Pakistan struggle. Operation against our patriotic workers was launched in the past also,” he added.

“We would continue our struggle to safeguard Pakistan till the last drop of our blood. The anti-Pakistan elements are moving freely and the patriotic people are being punished,” he said.—PPI
