KARACHI: National unity rally from 21st


KARACHI, Dec 9: A five-day National Yekjehti Quaid-i-Azam Scouts Rally will be held Dec 21-25 under the auspices of Pakistan Boy Scouts Association (PBSA) here at Gulistan-i-Scouts Training Centre .

The rally will be the last ceremony of the year 2001, observed as the year of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah, the founder and first Chief Scout of Pakistan.

About 336 Quaid-i-Azam Scouts and 42 scout leaders from allover the country will take part in the rally —- the theme of which is “Faith, Unity and Discipline”.

Among the participants will be 48 Quaid-i-Azam scouts each from Punjab and the NWFP, Balochistan 32, Sindh 104, Northern Areas 16, Islamabad 24, Azad Kashmir 16, PIA 16, Railways 8 besides 25 special scouts.

The highlights of the five-day rally will include friendship games, quiz competitions, speech contests, educational tour, poster competition and grand camp fire.

On Dec 24, a large number of Shaheen and Rover scouts will also visit the rally.

Federal Education Minister Zobaida Jalal, who is also the Chief Scout Commissioner, will be the rally chief. Sarfraz Ahmed Syed and Abdul Hameed Akhund will be the deputy chiefs.

Aftab Asghar Qureshi will be the Programme Director; Wali Mohammed Siyal, Coordinator; Qazi Zahoorul Hasan, Secretary; and Jaffer Kazim, Head of Public Relations.

According to the PBSA, all arrangements have been completed for the rally at Camp Site, Gulistan-i-Scouts.—APP
