SWABI, Dec 7: District Zakat committee will disburse Rs7.58 million among 3,761 deserving people of the district under the rehabilitation programme and special Eid package of Guzara allowance before Eidul Fitr.

District Zakat chairman Nawab Ali Khan Yousafzai told Dawn on Friday that the committee at its meeting held on Thursday approved the distribution of Zakat funds under the two packages among the deserving applicants.

Around 190 sub-chairmen throughout the district had been motivated to identify the deserving people under the rehabilitation programme, he remarked.

“Under the rehabilitation programme, we had given Rs10,000 each to 50 people about five months back who have been running their own small businesses and earning their livelihood,” he said, adding that four committees in two tehsils had been constituted to monitor the businesses.

In the second phase of this programme, Rs6 million will be distributed among 600 people before Eidul Fitr for which all the arrangements have been made, he said.

He said the Zakat committee had approved Rs1.583 million a special Eid package of Guzara allowance for distribution among 3,161 beneficiaries in the district.
