ISLAMABAD, Dec 7: A team of The Asia Foundation met Christina Rocca, Assistant Secretary of State, in Washington to discuss educational developments in Pakistan, says a press release issued here on Friday.

The team included Julio A. Andrews, representative Asia Foundation, Pakistan, and Ms Mehnaz Akber Aziz, education specialist, it said.

Ms Rocca is the architect of the Brownback Amendment which had allowed pre-September 11, a window of opportunity for Pakistan in the area of basic education.

September 11 saw the opportunity expanding quickly with the USAID expanding its horizons with a focus on health, education and employment opportunities.

Improving the education sector in Pakistan remains one of the key areas of interest for Ms Rocca, who sees it as the only way ahead for Pakistan, the statement said.
