LAHORE, Dec 4: Justice Naeemullah Khan Sherwani of the Lahore High Court on Tuesday ordered registration of a criminal case against 16 policemen of Pattoki.

Taking up a petition against police highhandedness and trespass, the judge directed the Pattoki DSP to book the accused, including SHO Muhammad Ahmed Raza, ASIs Ali Raza and Muhammad Abbas, of Srai Mughal police station and report to the court within seven days. The petition filed by Abdul Ghafoor said the police officials had trespassed his house on Nov 26 in plain clothes and misbehaved with housewives.

When he approached the DSP, he refused to entertain his complaint.

Taking up an identical petition, the judge asked the Chunian SHO to register a case against former SHO Akbar Iqbal and ASI Zulfiqar Ali, SI Babar, ASI Nazir Ahmed and report to the court.

The court also directed the additional advocate general to ensure the compliance of the court order.

The petition filed by Syed Ibrar Hussain said the police had trespassed his house on March 13 last without any reason and misbehaved with the housewives in his absence and remained there for about three hours.—APP
