Dist council session adjourned for third day

By Our Staff Correspondent

FAISALABAD, Dec 4: The district council could not transact business on Tuesday for the third consecutive day for want of quorum.

A member pointed out the quorum and the convener adjourned the proceedings of the session, called to discuss draft by-laws for approval and elect members of six market committees, for Wednesday.

The session was adjourned earlier to allow consensus building on membership of six market committees proposed by the district Nazim.

Wednesday’s session would also discuss the law and order situation in the presence of senior superintendent of Police, Tasadduq Husain.

On Tuesday, the district Nazim was again conspicuous by his absence from the session. On Monday, too, he had hardly stayed for a few minutes in the house.

The Local Government Ordinance 2001, does not make the district Nazim the leader of the house.

BEAUTIFICATION: The tehsil municipal administration has launched a campaign in the city for the beautification of important roads and intersections.

Under this campaign, decorative trees are being planted in Chenab Club, TB Hospital, railway station, and Radio Faisalabad intersections.

The city Nazim, Mumtaz Ali Cheema, inspected several parks, green belts and intersections on Tuesday and discussed the project with the Parks and Horticulture Cell officials.
