Action against profiteers

FAISALABAD, Dec 4: District coordination officers and district Nazims have reportedly been directed by the Punjab government to take legal action against shopkeepers and vendors selling eatables at exorbitant rates.

Sources said on Tuesday that the governor taking notice of complaints about overcharging and blackmarketing had ordered action against violators.

They said heads of district governments had been directed to ensure regular supply of flour, ghee and other essential items in the market and Ramazan bazaars.

District Nazims have also been directed to raid Sunday and Ramazan bazaars along with Nazims of area union councils.

INJURED: Dacoits injured two persons and made off with cash, gold ornaments and four motorcycles in different strikes.

Two armed men snatched Rs85,000 in cash from a rural health centre clerk, Nasir Ali, and fled after injuring him in Pawalani village.

The manger of a textile mills, Tahir Islam, was seriously injured by some dacoits on resistance. The bandits fled after looting Rs60,000 in cash.

Three masked bandits took away cash and gold ornaments from the house of Muhammad Ahmad in Sanorabad.

Nasrullah was deprived of motorcycle by two highwaymen in Samanabad and Shahzad Ahmad in Shaikh Colony.

The motorcycle of Naeem was taken away from Ghulam Muhammadabad.

Akhtar Ali was robbed of Rs20,000 in cash and a two-wheeler by three masked robbers in the area of Saddar police.
