PESHAWAR, Dec 4: The government is making all-out efforts to concentrate on the uplift of public sector institutions as the welfare of the nation depends upon them, NWFP Information and Education Minister Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gilani stated talking to the teachers of the Government Girls College, Haripur.

He urged the teachers to join hands for the development of government schools and colleges. Establishment of private education institutions could not solve the problem of the country, he said.

Mr Gilani said that a little effort for the development of these public sector institutions could bring about big change in the country. But, the students from the private institutions, he stated, mostly went abroad.

The director of colleges, Prof Dr Abdur Rauf Khan, said on the occasion that during the last three years 20 degree colleges had been established. However, the institutions were facing shortage of teachers, he added.

He vowed to appoint teachers through the public service commission. He said the college principals had been allowed to purchase required materials and instruments for laboratory from the college funds.
