BAHAWALPUR, Dec 3: The future of the boys scouts section of the former education department hangs in balance even after a lapse of four months of devolution plan.

Dawn learnt here on Monday that neither the education department nor the sports is being looked after by the newly-created community development department at the provincial level. The department has not so far given approval to own the boys scouts section with the result that its employees are without salaries since Aug, 2001.

In Bahawalpur, the section has 13 employees as the divisional secretary of the boys scouts had retired in August.

Despite correspondence with the former high-ups in Bahawalpur and Lahore, the staff, including clerks and sweepers, have been denied salaries for the last four months.

ORDERED: The Lahore High Court, Bahawalpur Bench judge has ordered to exhume the body of one Sughra of Uch Sharif.

Her father Abdul Hamid contended in a writ petition that she was killed by her husband Allah Wasaya and his accomplices Muhammad Bakhsh and Sarwar bibi.

Justice Iftikhar Ahmad accepted the petition and ordered the Ahmadpur East judicial magistrate to present the post mortem report till Dec 21, 2001.

HEPATITIS B: The government will launch Hepatitis B vaccination drive in the district during the next year.

This was stated by EDO (health) in the sixth meeting of the local district council held under the chairmanship of deputy district Nazim Syed Awais Gardezi, here on Monday.

The resolution was moved by the only woman union council Nazim Mrs Azra Shaikh, demanding a campaign.

The meeting also demanded that the government should provide medical implements in the Ahmadpur East THQ Hospital.

Meanwhile, district Nazim Tariq Cheema asked for the approval of uplift projects costing Rs117 million.

The house accorded approval of three projects pertaining to Ahmadpur (Rs 8.3 million) and Hasilpur (Rs 3.5 million).
