Security tightened ahead of Eid

By Our Correspondent

GUJRANWALA, Dec 2: Heavy police contingents and Elite Force have been deployed in a stepped up security measure at almost all trade centres, bazaars, markets and important places in and around the city ahead of Eid.

This was stated by SSP Muhammad Aslam Tarin while presiding over a meeting here on Sunday.

He urged the police officers to maintain the law and order situation and provide security to people and traders especially during shopping till Eidul Fitr.

Traders and the business community should hire gunmen and post them outside their shops and business centres to help police in avoiding any untoward incident. The police would also keep on patrolling to avert any terrorist activity, he maintained.

FUNDS: Development funds will be provided to union councils’ Nazims and Naib Nazims without any discrimination.

This assurance was held out by district council Nazim Fiaz Ahmad Chattha while speaking at an iftar dinner here on Saturday night.

He said all union councils had been asked to send their development programmes to the district council immediately.
