ISLAMABAD, Nov 29: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has suspended water supply to sector G-7 after sewage seeped into pipelines, Authority sources said.

They said the residents of the area had been lodging frequent complaints with the CDA’s directorate concerned and army monitoring team (AMT) regarding supply of contaminated water.

The water supply line in the sector had reportedly been damaged, causing mixing of sewage with the drinking water. Hence, the authority suspended the water supply to replace the damaged pipelines. In the meantime, water will be supplied to the residents through tankers, the sources said.

A recent study of Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources revealed that 75 per cent water in the Capital and 87 per cent in Rawalpindi was not fit for human consumption due to bacterial contamination.
