ISLAMABAD, Nov 28: Federal Secretary for Communications Iftikhar Rashid has said that with the passage of time Pakistan- Turkey relations would be further strengthened.

He was talking to a high level delegation headed by Turkish ambassador based in Islamabad Ali Vural Oktem here on Wednesday.

They discussed bilateral matters relating to the communications sector. The other members of Turkish delegation included former ambassador of Turkey Mustafa Asola and Deputy Secretary General of Contractors Association of Turkey Ruhi Tarkan.

Iftikar Rashid said people of Pakistan and Turkey had sentimental attachment with each other. He said the two countries were already cooperating with each other in economic sector from the ECO Platform and in the future this relationship would further be strengthened. He said that the government of Pakistan was undertaking extra- ordinary steps for economic uplift of the country. He hoped that cooperation in economic sector would further be promoted and both the countries would come more closer.

The secretary said there were vast opportunities of cooperation in communication sector among the ECO states and stressed the need to promote ties in this regards.

Turkish envoy said vast opportunities for cooperation in economic sector existed between Turkey and Pakistan. He expressed satisfaction over the government of Pakistan’s was endeavours for firm infrastructure.

He said, promotion of brotherly relations between Pakistan and Turkey is the need of hour. He said Pakistan-Turkish relations were time-tested. He said, economic cooperation among the ECO states would cast positive effects on the economy of the whole region.
