YMCA Under-18 camp starts

KARACHI Nov 27: Thirtyeight youngsters, mostly school students, started their training at the 39th edition of YMCA Junior (Under-18 ) hockey coaching camp Tuesday at the YMCA ground

They had their first lesson in hitting and dribbling under the guidance of coaches for about 90 minutes preceded by physical exercise.

Col (Retd ) Shah Ali,Training Commissioner of Pakistan Boys Scouts,who inagurated the camp, advised the boys to take full benefit of the two-week free training camp which had poduced 15 international players, including seven Olympians. The Olympians are Shahid Ali Khan, Naeem Akhtar, Ayaz Mahmood, Mansoor Ahmed, Ahmed Alam, Kamran Ashraf and world-renowned penalty corner specialist Sohail Abbas

The Colonel said holding of the camp regularly for the youth showed the organisers commitments to the game and lauded the selfless service of camp commandent Shabih Abbas since the camp was established 17 years ago in 1984

The daily training of one and half hours, except on Friday and Sunday, will start at 2.30 pm.
