Dacoits on looting spree

SIALKOT, Nov 26: Gujranwala range DIG Khawaja Khalid Farooq has directed police to be on full alert against dacoities and terrorists’ attacks, here on Monday.

In a circular, the DIG asked the officials to spare no pains in bringing the culprits to book.

Meanwhile, dacoits continued to loot people in various parts of the district during the last 24 hours.

Three dacoits stormed into Prof Riaz Ahmad’s house, held up the inmates and made off with cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs400,000. They drove away with his car.

In another incident, two bandits deprived filling station owners Anwar Cheema and Malik Saeed of Rs225,000 at gunpoint on the Sambrial-Zafarwali Road, Daska.

Police have registered a case with no arrest so far.

In Mohallah Raiwala, Daska Kalan, two dacoits burst into DIG special branch Rafiq Hassan Butt’s father-in-law Muhammad Imran Butt’s house, held up the inmates and fled with cash and jewellery worth Rs150,000.

Three bandits drove away with farmer Sarfraz Khan’s tractor in Doburji Malhiyaan village while as many bandits deprived student Muazzam Ali of his motorcycle (STF-857) in Kotli village.

Dacoits snatched Rs90,000 in cash from Wapda SDO Abdul Rahman and drove away with his bike (STG-2087) in Kotli Daasu Singh village, Motra.

Meanwhile, in Burj Chooma village, Bambanwala, dacoits injured elderly woman Rasoolan on offering resistance. She was admitted to the Daska Hospital in critical condition.

In Karam Street, Naikapura, four robbers made their way through expatriate Hamayun Pervez’s house on Sunday evening. They took away cash, ornaments, a TV set, a VCR set, decks and other valuables worth Rs1.2 million. They beat the women on resistance.

Naikapura police have registered a case with no arrest so far.

SHOT DEAD: Two persons were shot dead while five others, including three women, sustained injuries when their rivals targeted them in different incidents in Daska tehsil late on Sunday night.

In Chohdey Chak, nine armed people Sikandar, Kalu, Tajammul, Gul Nawaz, Salimullah, Naeemullah, Javed, Pervez and Ashraf went to local landlord Muhammad Siddique’s house and opened fire on the inmates over old score. Siddique died instantly while his wife Fatima, two daughters Sumera and Mussarat and neighbours Zulfiqar and Muhammad Husain received injuries. The outlaws fled firing in the air.

The injured were admitted to the Daska Civil Hospital in precarious condition.

Sambrial police have registered a case with no arrest so far.

Meanwhile, two armed men Sarfraz Ahmad and Shaukat Ali alias Munshi shot dead their rival Rasheed Ahmad in Galotiyaan Khurd village.

Sialkot police has launched a drive against the culprits. Sialkot SSP Muhammad Tahir told this correspondent that the culprits would be dealt with iron fist.
