KARACHI, Nov 26: The Provincial Transition Wing has decided to go ahead with its plan of setting up the office of the district Ombudsman in Sindh.

Local Government Secretary Maj (retd) Qamar-u-Zaman, while presiding over a PTW meeting at the Sindh Secretariat here on Monday, directed the authorities concerned to submit a summery to the governor in this regard.

The meeting discussed matters, pertaining to the formation of the Local Government Commission, and decided to send a summery to the governor with details of the staff, offices, transport and other requirements needed for setting up the commission.

The secretary also directed the authorities to seek information from all district coordination officers with regard to the establishment of offices and appointments of staff with a particular reference to executive district officers and such other officials on vacant posts.

He called for early completion of translation of the Sindh Local Government Ordinance 2001 into Urdu and Sindhi languages.

Maj Zaman suggested holding of a meeting of all the assistant directors of local governments this week to discuss the problems being faced by them.—PPI
