KARACHI: Bandits rob railways of one million rupees

KARACHI, Nov 26: Bandits got away with Rs1,178,420 from the station master’s room at Karachi Cantt Railway Station on Monday.
The police said that five armed men barged into the room of the station master, held those in the room as hostage at gunpoint, collected cash and escaped. Money collected in the ticket booking offices had been kept in the station master’s room. The railway police said that they were informed about half and hour after the robbery was committed.
A few days ago, bandits got away with Rs two million from the Saddar General Post Office.
Another six robberies were committed in the city on Monday.
A gang of bandits barged into the house of Rahmat Khan in Nabi Bux police limits, held the family as hostage at gunpoint and escaped with cash and valuables.
Bandits entered the house of Manzar in Liaquatabad and looted cash and valuables.
Dacoits dashed into a shop owned by Ashfaq in New Karachi and robbed him of cash and other valuables.
Bandits raided the house of Qayyum Jehan in Nazimabad and got away with cash and gold jewellery.
Dacoits robbed Nauman in a similar way in North Nazimabad.
Bandits barged into the house of Shoaib in Gulshan-i-Iqbal and looted cash and gold jewellery.
KILLED: Bandits shot a man to death in Baldia Town on Monday.
The police said that Mohammad Ashraf, aged 58, after withdrawing cash from a bank was on his way home in Rasheedabad, New Gulshan Labour Colony, Baldia Town, when two unidentified armed men tried to snatch the cash from him at gunpoint.
The police said that when Ashraf put up resistance, bandits opened fired on him and escaped leaving behind Rs15,000.
Ashraf was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival, the police said.
Unidentified men stabbed a young man to death in Orangi Town on Monday.
The police said that Qaiser Iqbal, aged 22, a factory worker, was stabbed to death by unknown persons in his rented room in Orangi Town. Qaiser shared the room with another bachelor who had been missing since Qaiser was found stabbed to death, the police said.
The police said that Qaiser’s roommate was the prime suspect in the killing.
Unknown assailants shot a young man to death in Quaidabad on late Sunday night.
Jamal alias Mujahid was standing outside his house in Majeed Colony in Quaidabad when two unidentified men, riding a motorcycle, appeared there, opened fire on him and sped away on the motorcycle.
He was rushed to JPMC where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. Jamal, father of an infant, was jobless, the police said and described the motive for the killing as personal enmity.
ROAD ACCIDENTS: Three persons died in road accidents in the city on Monday.
The police said that a truck-driver, Mohammed Ashraf, aged 46, died when his truck went out of control and overturned on Super Highway near Nagori Society.
An unidentified woman died in a hit-and-run road accident in Korangi Industrial Area. The police said that the woman appeared to be a beggar. The body was shifted to the JPMC for post-mortem.
A 12-year-old boy was run over by a taxi-cab near Al-Asif Square on Sunday night.
