LAHORE, Nov 25: Journalist Ahmad Bashir criticized the role of the non-government organizations (NGOs), saying since their appearance no voice against feudalism has been raised.

Speaking at the launching of a new monthly magazine, Badalti Duniya, he said there was no political party or leader who could bring a change in society by drawing a new order for distribution of wealth, regretting that both the right-wing and the left-wing parties had ditched the people of this country.

Academy of Letters former chief Fakhar Zaman said the leftists had committed many faults in the past by not finding a new vision to solve problems of the people in the changing socio-political and economic scenario.

There was a need to conduct a big debate on the breakup of the USSR, resulting in the emergence of a uni-polar world, he said.

He also urged the progressive writers to also pen their ideas in regional languages so that it could be conveyed to more and more people.

Begum Tahira Mazhar Ali Khan urged the management of the new magazine to expose corruption in the country, saying it had plagued the country the day it was created.

Senior journalist Aziz Mazhar said there was a dearth of quality periodicals in the country and the management of the Badalti Duniya should highlight issues related to the problems of the masses.
