Truck drivers block road

SHIKARPUR, Nov 24: A gang of unidentified highwaymen intercepted some trucks near village Lodro on Shikarpur-Jaccobabad road on Friday night, looted cash and watches from the drivers and fled.

The truck drivers blocked the Shikarpur-Jaccobabad road for three hours near Mehran Oil Mills on Saturday to protest against the incident. The road was reopened for traffic when the police and district administration intervened.

PRICES FIXED: A meeting of the district price committee was presided over by DCO Gul Muhammad Umrani on Saturday to fix prices of daily-use items.

The meeting fixed rates of consumers items including rice, atta, ghee, sugar, milk, pulses, fruit and vegetables. The representatives of shopkeepers and trade community were asked to display the price lists on their shops and sell items accordingly. The defaulters would be penalised on the spot, they were warned.

COPS HELD: Two policemen ASI Mushtaq Ali Pathan and head constable Abdul Qadeer Isani were lodged in police lockup by ASP Shikarpur on charges of corruption. They had allegedly released two accused after receiving graft.
