Eight killed in US bombing

PESHAWAR, Nov 24: As many as eight persons were killed and five others were injured when US war planes hit some targets in Paktia province, Afghanistan, adjacent to the Pakistan tribal territory of Kurram Agency on Saturday.

Sources informed Dawn that the US planes also targeted Pakistan border town Tari Mingal, Upper Kurram Agency.

They said that US jets started bombardment at 6.30am to knock out bunkers and tunnels in Jaji locality of Paktia province, bordering Pakistan.

The sources, quoting Pakistan border security forces, said that eight persons were killed on the spot and five persons received serious injuries.

They said that some rockets and bombs also landed in Tari Mingal area, but caused no human loss.
