KARACHI, Nov 21: The Sindh Education Department has introduced a new policy for the teachers of government schools seeking additional increments on the basis of Bachelors and Masters’ degrees in Education (B.Ed and M.Ed).
Under the new policy, it has been made mandatory for such teachers to appear in a written test and qualify for the increment. Previously, the teachers had only to submit certificates of B.Ed or M.Ed to the department for the purpose, sources in the department said.
This step is also aimed at improving the standard of education as most of the teachers in the past had been found involved in getting additional increments through fake certificates issued by unregistered teachers training institutions. It has been observed that the teachers often approach such unauthorized institutions and without undergoing training and appearing in the examination, obtain certificates.
The standard of education is not up to the mark even at the authorized institutions or public sector elementary colleges, the sources said.
The first test is being held on Nov 25, throughout the province for which a schedule has already been announced. The test will be held under the direct supervision of the Executive District Officers, Education.
The centre for the teachers appearing in the test from Karachi will be at the D.J. Government College. For teachers from Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin and Dadu districts: Government Boys High School, opposite Goal Building Hyderabad. For Teachers from Sukkur, Khairpur, Nawabshah, Naushehro Feroze and Ghotki districts: Government College of Education, Sukkur. For teachers from Larkana, Jacobabad and Shikarpur: Government Pilot School, Larkana and for the teachers belonging to Mirpurkhas, Mithi and Sanghar districts: Government Boys High School, Mirpurkhas.
The teachers have been asked to bring the National Identity Card, Service Card and original as well as attested copies of testimonials along with them.—PPI
