KARACHI: Non-bailable warrants for arrest of cops


KARACHI, Nov. 17: District and Sessions Judge, Central, Riaz Ahmed Shaikh on Saturday issued non-bailable warrants of arrests of some policemen for Nov 26, who are prosecution witness in a murder, attempt to murder, arson case registered by the Taimuria Police.

Dr Farooq Sattar and Kunwar Khalid Younus of Muttahidda Qaumi Movement are accused in the case.

Earlier, a number of police constables deposed in the matter before the court. They failed to identify the accused while retracting from their previous statements recorded by the police under section 164 Cr.P.C. The court declared them hostile and summoned all the remaining witnesses in the case.

The hearing of murder case of former Advocate General Sindh, Iqbal Raad was also put off by District and Sessions judge South, Agha Rafique Ahmed Khan as counsel for some of the accused were not present.

The trial of the murder case is being held inside Central Prison Karachi in which six workers of MQM-A are accused. They include Ajmal alias Pahari, Asif alias Daddan, Sohail alias DC, Kaleem Commando and Ashraf. —APP
