PESHAWAR, Nov 16: The Director-General, Health Services, NWFP, Brig Habibur Rehman, handed over a sizable quantity medicines and medical equipment to six tribal agencies’ surgeons here on Friday.

The medicines would meet needs of around 10,000 Afghans at various refugee camps in the province for three months, he said, on the occasion,according to an official statement.

Brig Rehman said the government had allowed providing of medical cover to needy Afghan refugees on humanitarian grounds despite closure of the borders with Afghanistan.

He said the medicines and the equipment had been contributed by the UN and WHO, adding that hospitals in the province would also provide health cover to refugees.

Brig Rehman stressed the fact that the donated medicines were meant for poor and deserving refugees, and addaed that the medical staff must bear this in mind.
