KARACHI: JI rally against Support to US

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Nov 11: Protesters condemning the US-led bombing on Afghanistan outside Binnori Town Masjid, on Sunday, demanded of the government to change its Afghan policy at the earliest.

Those who spoke at the demonstration included Jamaat-i-Islami Secretary General, Munawwar Hasan; Mufti Shamzai, JI Karachi chief, Mairajul Huda and Nasrullah Shajih.

Munawwar Hasan said that President Musharraf should declare an end to Pakistan’s logistic support to the US and its allies by the first of Ramazan, if he was sincere in his resolve to seek an end to bombing in the holy month.

He said that both President Musharraf and Interior Minister, Moinuddin Haider, were continuing to succumb to the US which had occupied Pakistan without war.

However, he added, the people of Pakistan would never accept the hegemonic designs of the US.

Mufti Shamzai said that the rulers had lost their right to rule by siding with the Jews and Christians.

According to him, neither Mullah Omar nor Afghanistan, or any individual in Afghanistan, had any role in the attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon.

But, he added, the beginning of implicating the Taliban had begun in the Western electronic media soon after the Sept 11 incident.
