KARACHI: CNS stresses need for market-based technology
KARACHI, Nov 6: “To meet the challenges of the 21st century, we need to promote active learning and incorporate market-based technologies. There is a need to involve students in meaningful projects and increase collaboration with industry”, said Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Abdul Aziz Mirza. He was addressing the 14th convocation of the Pakistan Navy Engineering College (PNEC) here on Tuesday.
He said that we must keep pace with the rapidly developing fields of engineering and technology.
He urged the passing out graduates to put in relentless efforts to live up to the expectations of their parents and the Pakistan Navy by positively contributing towards the strengthening maritime defence and national industry. He also congratulated the graduating students on their brilliant success.
In his welcome address, Commodore, Muhammed Qasim Janjua, Commandant PNEC informed that the PNEC was actively involved in research and development actively. He highlighted various research and development projects successfully designed and developed by college students.
Later, Lt Gen (rtd) Syed Shujat Hussain, Rector, National University of Sciences & Technology, conferred degrees in absentia. The Chief of Naval Staff later awarded gold and silver medals to graduates who excelled in different fields.
The ceremony was attended by a large number of senior naval officers and parents of the passing out graduates. — PPI
