Feature event an open affair

By Aftab Gilani

LAHORE, Nov 3: The three-year-old bay filly Dizzy Height looks set to claim supporting event of the 9th Lahore Winter Meeting to be run over a mile at the Racecourse Sunday.

Dizzy Height is a well-bred filly from Shogun-out-of-Bahare Sarwat, who had won two consecutive races in the lower divisions of class VII and has been promoted to the division I & II of the class VII. She has every chance of making it three in-a-row.

This will be the fifth race of the afternoon.

The closest rivals of Dizzy Height could be the roan blue horses Love Moon and the lowly-placed gelding Think Thank.

The feature event, the Kassowal Plate, a class V handicap race to be contested over a mile, has eleven entrants. The event seems to be an open affair.

On handicap and on recent performances, four out of the eleven look to be on chance. They are: Crown  Maker,  One Man Show, Fanim and Admiral’s Choice.

The Zaheer-ud-Din Muhammad Babar Cup, named after the founder of the mogul dynasty in India, was to be run over a mile but has been cancelled due to paucity of contestants. This was a handicap race for Class I, II & III animals.

The term race for three-year-old thoroughbreds has also been cancelled for want of entries.

A card of six events has been drawn for Sunday. Out of these, two races will be contested over a mile, while three over the distance of six furlongs and one race for two-year-old halfbred maidens will be competed over a distance of five furlongs.
