SBP sets up refugees fund

KARACHI, Nov 3: The State Bank (SBP) has opened an account at its offices throughout the country to receive donations in “President’s Fund for Afghan Refugees” from Monday, says a press release.

This has been done “in response to the president’s appeal to the nation to help eliminate the miseries of the Afghan refugees,” it said.

The SBP offices, government treasuries, all branches of Habib Bank, National Bank, United Bank, Muslim Commercial Bank and Allied Bank will receive the donations. The SBP has requested the people “to deposit their donations generously in the form of cash, cheques, prize bonds, saving certificates and other government securities.”
