SWABI, Nov 3: The treasury benches of district government and the opposition of the district council pledged here that they would cooperate with each other to solve problems of people to make Swabi a model city.

This happened after speeches by both the opposition and treasury benches on the last day of the council session and approval of Rs 672 million budget. The peaceful environment was created by the district Nazim Sher Zaman Sher when he said that for each union council Rs 11,15,343 and Rs 1,00,000 development fund for each 28 district female councillors and three minority members had been allocated in the district budget which they would spend in their respective areas on development works.

Besides it, the district Nazim said Rs 1,12,29,000 have been reserved for each municipal committee administration of tehsil for provision of facilities to the people in their respective areas.

Sher Zaman Sher said, the officials of each department have to cooperate with the local representatives and if any one indulged in delaying tactics he would be dealt with iron hands and might be transferred to some other areas.

“In some departments, there are some officers who want to fail the newly local bodies system. They oppose the transfer of power to the local representative but remember the government had given them a task and if they created any hurdles they would not be spared”, he warned.

He stressed for focusing on the agriculture sector which is backbone of the economy.

He came down heavily on Wapda, alleging that its staff had fined a number of consumers without reason which created panic among the people.

He called on the secret agencies to submit their monthly report to the district government about the work of various departments as in its light the government would take action.
