KARACHI: Demonstration held for peace

Published November 4, 2001

KARACHI, Nov 3: The Joint Action Committee for the Restoration of Peace, comprising various civic organizations and NGOs, held a demonstration to raise voice in support of peace on Saturday.

A number of activists of various peace organizations gathered in front of Karachi Press Club at 4.30pm.

They were carrying placards and banners with slogans against war.

A leader of the demonstrators spoke against the aggression and terrorism and said they believed conflicts could be resolved peacefully.

She stressed the need for the creation of a platform for Pakistanis from which they could express their views and build consensus on issues.

“Our detractors justify indiscriminate massacre of innocent civilians with three words ‘acceptable collateral damage’”. We are against a formidable force. However, we will strike at the heart of what they fear most,” she said.—PPI
