KARACHI, Nov. 2: An appellate bench of Sindh High Court on Friday set aside the sentence of accused Syed Shahid Hussain Kazmi, who was convicted by Suppression of Terrorist Activities (STA) Court Karachi for possessing an unlicensed kalashnikov.

The bench comprising Justice Ghulam Rabbani and Justice Muhammad Ashraf Leghari passed these orders as the prosecution did not prove charges against the appellant.

On April 24, 2000, Judge Syed Ali Muhammad Rizvi of STA Court Karachi and District & Session Judge Central, awarded him three years rigorous imprisonment (RI) and imposed a fine of Rs5000 under the Arms Ordinance.—PPI
