SAHIWAL, Nov 1: An assistant superintendent of Sahiwal central jail was arrested while taking bribe from the relative of a condemned prisoner.

According to details, Muhammad Saleem wanted to see his brother Muhammad Naeem, a condemned prisoner, in the central jail. Assistant Superintendent Tahir Majid demanded Rs1,000 for the meeting.

Saleem informed the Anti-Corruption Establishment who constituted a team headed by a civil judge. The ACE team raided and caught the jail official red-handed while receiving the bribe.

Saleem alleged in his complaint that in the past he had been paying Rs500 to Tahir Majid for meeting his brother Naeem. He said that Tahir told him to pay Rs1,000.

BUS STAND: Sahiwal Tehsil Nazim Rana Aamir Shahzad inaugurated the new bus stand here on Thursday.

The bus stand has been constructed at Arifwala Chowk at a cost of Rs1.8 million.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, the Nazim said that this new terminal would facilitate passengers besides enhancing the income of the civic body.
