GUJRANWALA, Nov 1: Medical officers and paramedical staff of Wazirabad THQ Hospital on Thursday went on a token strike after policemen thrashed an MO and two dispensers reportedly for not attending a serious patient.

Some policemen brought the patient, stated to serious, but MO Dr Farrukh Azam Cheema allegedly refused to see him due to the harsh attitude of law-enforcers.

Losing their tempers, they started beating the doctor with fists, kicks and butts of rifles. They also thrashed dispensers Mahmood Ahmad and Muhammad Saleem when they came to the rescue of their boss. They left after injuring the MO and dispensers who were admitted to the hospital.

The medical superintendent has reported the matter to the City police.

Meanwhile, the constables alleged the doctor and the staff were sleeping when they reached the emergency. “As we woke them up, they started quarrelling,” the constables further alleged.
