Annan calls for end to attacks

By Our Correspondent

UNITED NATIONS, Oct 31: UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan on Tuesday called for a quick end to the US-led military campaign in Afghanistan to allow the United Nations to begin sending food into the country before winter.

Asked whether he was seeking a bombing pause, Annan said he wasn’t talking about a bombing pause to ease humanitarian relief efforts.

“What I am saying is that we would want to see this whole military operation ended as soon as possible, particularly the air action, so that we can begin to move in our supplies,” he told reporters.
