Toba tehsil council surplus budget

TOBA TEK SINGH, Oct 31: Local tehsil council on Wednesday approved a surplus budget of Rs56.4 million.

The budget session was held in the district council hall with Naib Nazim Rana Abdul Majeed in the chair.

Presenting the budget, tehsil Nazim Chaudhry Muhammad Rafiq informed the house that there would be a saving of Rs7.62 million after spending Rs48.8 million.

He said an amount of Rs15.8 million would be incurred on the staff salary, Rs17.1 million on contingent expenditures and Rs12.7 million had been allocated for development schemes.

Annual Development Programme schemes would be finalized with the consultation of tehsil council members, he said. It was decided the commercial plaza at the municipal committee garden would be constructed after demolishing residential quarters of tehsil council employees, he said.

The water supply fee, he revealed, had been raised from Rs30 to Rs45 per month and 100 per cent increase was made in toll tax and parking fees. He said Rs50 per marla fee had been levied on the transfer of property, Rs1,500 on circus shows, Rs500 on cattle shows and Rs1,000 on variety shows, besides levying Rs10,000 fee on the issuance of NOC for the installation of a petrol pump.

The tehsil council also introduced a new tax of Rs10 per month per sewerage connection.

The Nazim also passed a resolution in which it condemned the church carnage in Bahawalpur and called for immediate arrest of the killers. One minute silence was also observed to mourn the assassination of Christians.

ARRESTED: Pirmahal police on Wednesday arrested all seven alleged outlaws involved in a gangrape case and sent them to the Jhang District Jail on judicial remand.

An unmarried girl of Chak 681/22-GB was abducted and gangraped by seven outlaws in village’s Government Girls Elementary School. They escaped after committing the crime, leaving the ill-fated girl unconscious.

Those arrested are: Liaquat Ali, Muhammad Aslam, Muhammad Rafiq, Abdul Ghaffar, Muhammad Ayub, Kaleemullah and Muhammad Faheem.
